Stitch Station celebrated its first birthday in October!
Diane and the Team would like to thank our suppliers, local artisans and most of all our valued customers for supporting us during our first year…and what a year it’s been!
Since opening in October 2021, Stitch Station has grown into the thriving community space we hoped it would be.
We can successfully tick-off our first year Business Plan ‘Grass Roots’; which included the development of both our indoor and outdoor space, workshop programme, strong relationships with our local artisans, craft community and the NHS.
We began working with Neighbourhood Coffee (based in Liverpool) prior to opening and it’s thanks to them that our team are professionally trained baristas, serving the best (in our opinion – we sampled many coffee brands before choosing Neighbourhood) coffee in Warrington! Many of our customers’ 5 star reviews say the same. They also supplied our much loved (shiny, hand-built in Italy) barista machine and continue to provide our freshly roasted beans and retail items on a monthly basis.
Similarly, we have been partnered with Brew Tea of Manchester for over a year. They offer a fabulous service and provide all of our teas and pots (check out our ‘retail station’ for both)!
Our delicious cakes are baked locally, especially for us, by either Bakes by Becka or Gill’s Gems and our bread is delivered twice a week by Sextons (freshly baked for us in their Lymm bakery). All partnerships that we value and support.
Thanks to ‘Chef Cheryl’ we have developed our regular and seasonal menus – which currently features our homemade soup of the day (definitely one to check out during the Autumn/Winter months); and our Afternoon Teas, which have been incredibly popular, particularly during the summer months and, more recently, as take-aways for special birthday celebrations – our last take-away Afternoon Tea was to celebrate a 101st birthday! Thank you for choosing us to be part of your special celebrations!
Talking of celebrations, we launched our first Community (yarn bombing) Project, ‘Jubilee Bunting’ in February 2022 and by the instalation afternoon at the end of May over 150 knit and crochet patterns had gone out into the community and over 1,000 triangles had come back to the shop!
It was so popular it became an official event on the Platinum Jubilee Website!
We are about to launch our second Community Project in conjunction with Penketh Methodist Church, which will be linked to our November Workshop Programme. Details coming soon to our website and social pages.
Last, but not least, Diane would like to thank the team (all her friends and family), her husband, David, and children, James and Abigail for their support, patience and encouragement during what for any new, small business has been challenging times. We made it and are now looking forward to the future and implementing our second year Business Plan ‘Green Growth’ in which we hope to strengthen and build upon our core values of reduce, reuse, upcycle and buy local.
One year ago this month, Christine (aka Winwick Mum) ‘cut the yarn’ and declared Stitch Station officially open. She very kindly returned to reveal the plaque to open Granny Annie Square (our outdoor seating area) this Summer. We’re glad that Christine regularly pops in to see us and to meet with friends, and thank her for the continued support.
I’m sure that as we continue to grow we’ll see Christine here again soon in her official role with scissors at the ready!
Thank you from the Stitch Station Team
Proudly serving the community since 2021!
