Alison Lightfoot

Macrame Tutor – For the Love of Knots

I’ve always been a keen crocheter, this then led me on to experimenting within the world of macrame.

Over the last five years, I have mainly created round wall hangings and homewares. I love making patterns up as I go to create unique, free flowing, work and experimenting with colours and materials.

I am looking forward to expanding and sharing my knowledge with you and like-minded creatives. I want to create a calm and relaxed space for you to enjoy creating your own beautiful pieces and I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you and Diane at Stich Station.

Donna Smith

Wreath Making and Floristry Tutor – The Northern Flowerhouse

As a keen gardener and cut flower grower, I wanted to create an alternative floristry offering in the local area, one that had a strong sustainable ethos at heart. In October 2020 The Northern Flowerhouse was born.

I’m a registered member of Flowers from the Farm and have a small artisan growing patch locally which I use to complement a range of floral services. I’m a champion of British grown seasonal blooms and I also have a no floral foam policy. I believe that beautiful flowers and arrangements shouldn’t come at a cost to the environment.

You can find more about my day to day over on instagram @the_northern_flowerhouse and facebook.com/TheNorthernFlowerhouse

Marianne Penny

Knit and Crochet Tutor – Penny.Stitch.Craft

Knitting and crochet are my go-to crafts to relax and unwind. They are easily accessible; can be portable too, and there is a mindfulness about the soothing rhythm that takes you away and creates inner calm.

After Art College, I completed a Knitwear Design and Production Degree in the 1990’s. I also started my crochet journey then by making my first granny square blanket using my Grandad’s weaving wool. I have continued to build upon my skills and experience ever since – there is always something new to learn!

My love of natural fibres has grown with my experience and knowledge, and nothing gives me more joy than working with lovely fluff or yarns to create beautiful items.

I have been sharing my love of crafts with others and teaching knitting, crochet and sewing skills for the past 6 years. I am also able to teach left and right-handed crochet.

Come and join me at Stitch Station and learn the skills needed to share in our crochet and knitting community projects, make lovely hand crafts for yourself, your friends and family, and feel benefits that yarn crafts offer to your health and well-being.

I’ve been a teacher for over 20 years ranging from pre-schoolers to postgraduate students and I am passionate about seeing people flourish as they learn new skills and connect with their creativity.
